G'day Tony,
I have mentioned this in one or two other threads, and I don't know what your improvements on a/c deployment etc are in the final cut of the 1.03 or 1.04 versions, but my wish is seeing a/c lumped into container squadrons for easier management. I really dislike the manner the AI sends out 2 or 3 a/c strikes. I think grouping a/c together in 12 or + squadrons would reduce the clutter considerably.
Two other things that needs attention with a/c. I don't if I'm right here, but especially in carrier ops using sqns as opposed single a/c would reduce the need for the computer to track 30/40 a/c as opposed to 2 or 3 squadrons, would this equate to less computer energy being used?
1. this could put the AI side to a disadvantage if not fixed. In air strikes from British carriers the AI tends to send bombers only in a strike, because torpedo equipped a/c are slower than bombers, and AI won't mix the strike, however the human player if he selects Torpedo a/c first he can then select bomber a/c and AI allows this.
2. The AI has a tendency to use Marlets as bombers and not to send them on bombing missions as escorts, again fine for the human player, because he can edit the strike, but the AI can't.

Ron - The squadron size issue is something I'll be looking at for R1.0.4.

In the meantime, we have R1.0.3.2 coming out in a few days. This has several enhancements to the air strike AI, including curing the tendency for Zeros and Marletts to go alone on strikes as fighter bombers.

The enhancements have had the net effect of redcing the number of air strikes, and improving their profile.

R1.0.3.2 also fixes the tendency of the AI to overwrite manual ac deployments; and it has some nice new features on the tactical side during turn calculation.

Stay tuned...
