Hi
after playing the game a few hours i must say that the game makes a lot fun to play.:) However i have a few question regarding the game.
- How can i design a aircraft carrier. In the design screen i canīt choose size or calibre as with the other ship types?
- In the pacific campaign i am missing Midway as a base. Why was it left out? And maybe you can add Wewak and Shortland to this campaign too? I think there is a gap between Rabaul and Guadalcanal and between Lae and Hollandia. And why is Wake still an american base in July 1942?
- Can you transport troops and supplies with you transport planes. And if yes how can i see how much is transported to another base each turn?
- How can i create a "Fast Transport" mission? Is it the same as a convoy mission just with warships only. And how much transport capacity have a warship?
Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Frank

Hi, Frank!
Let me give some of your questions a shot;
How can i design a aircraft carrier. In the design screen i canīt choose size or calibre as with the other ship types?
I'm embarrassed to admit I've never designed a carrier....:o I need to defer to Tony on that one.
In the pacific campaign i am missing Midway as a base. Why was it left out? And maybe you can add Wewak and Shortland to this campaign too? I think there is a gap between Rabaul and Guadalcanal and between Lae and Hollandia. And why is Wake still an american base in July 1942?
Tony designed the scenarios, so the base selection was probably a game-balance decision to which I am not privvy. I need to defer this one to Tony also....
Can you transport troops and supplies with you transport planes. And if yes how can i see how much is transported to another base each turn?
At present troops can only be transported via ship. Successfully transporting troops is reported in the Turn Briefing Report.
How can i create a "Fast Transport" mission? Is it the same as a convoy mission just with warships only. And how much transport capacity have a warship?
Yes, creating a transport mission with only warships will do what you state. I do not know the exact capacities of the various warship types, but I seem to recall a DD carrying something around 250 and a cruiser around 500, but I wouldn't stake my life on those numbers.
Two for four - that's 0.500. I'd be rich if I was a baseball player! :D
Seriously, I hope that helps.

IIRC CV design likely will be something done down the road.

Frank - I will be looking at adding bases to the maps for sure. The ownership of a base at the start of a campaign can be changed when you create your own campaigns. I'll note down for correction the ownership of Wake

Thanks to all for answering. I have another few questions who someone can answer please.
- Is it a good strategy to place Ju 52 planes on Sicily to transport supply to Africa? Can they be shoot down by enemy aircrafts?
- In the Mediterranean Melddown pdf from last year on page 30 there is a feature described that you can click on a fleet during the calculation phase to see the ships in there. Is this feature still in the release version? Currently it is very difficult during the turn calculation phase to know which ships are in each taskforce.
- Can supply be transported between two bases via land? So for example if i have troops in Benghazi with no rp on that base but enough in Tripoli are rp automatically send to Benghazi from Tipoli?
- Can i made Long Range CAP missions with my carriers? So when i want to land troops on and enemy base must i station my carrier on the same hex as the base to provide CAP to the transport fleet?
- Is it possible to split and combine land units?

Frank - we currently don't support supply being airlifted. Something for an enhancement.

Well spotted! yes, there was. I removed it because the feature was giving some trouble and I didn't have time to fix it and re-enable it. But someone else has asked for this feature and I have said on the Special Requests thread I think that we can look at re-enabling this.

Not in this release. This is something that would be part of the mix for when we make the land combat module more sophisticated

Not in this release

Yes. But this happens automatically whenever troops are embarked and debarked
