I'm pretty sure that the consensus on words like "harbour" would be the english spelling. After all, there's a billion Indians who can't be wrong ;)

One little phrase I have remembered from my days working with IT guys from Bangalore - when asked whether the code would be ready on time, the answer was "we will do the needfull". For some reason, I loved that!

I just hope english in all its forms stays the lingua franca (so to speak). I'm too old to learn mandarin! And those who speak proper english really don't mind if Texans can't spell - we still understand y'all.

G'day Tony,
I know your heading north, but did you originate from, Vic or Qld?

Ron - I'm a banana bender by birth who's lived more than half his life in Melbourne. But the last trip back to Noosa just killed me - I realised then I'd been away way too long :(

Letīs just call it "port" to avoid any disagreements. Or is that spelled "pourt" by some misguided souls?:D

I think the "President's American" is perfectly acceptable, don't you, Scott? :p

Ron - if the last Q was addressed to me, I plead guilty as charged. The manual was actually written in the form of a large number of separate web pages - which are accessible in-game. The idea of putting it into a composite pdf manual was probably Chris'. I was worried the sheer size of it would be a turn off. I organised the pages into into a hierarchy suited toi a manual and then William Miller was kind enough to do the hard yards in turning it into a pdf. I'm glad to see the response has largely been favourable.

I never understood why the D.C. crowd had problems understanding him....

Ron,

I also whined like a puppy for a written manual. I'm very hands-on and like to turn physical pages. The in-game help system is very well done, but when I start chasing hyperlinks in any online document, I have trouble following the bread crumbs back to where I started. That's an admission of my own shortcomings, not Tony's.

As for Tony, I've been trying for nearly two years to correct his spelling; I'm beginning to believe Aussies are untrainable.... :p

Iīve had the opportunity to listen to an Australian give a talk at a conference, a couple of years ago. I understood maybe one word in five or so. I think itīs time Australian is recognized as a separate language. :D

As for American English, I realized I was hanging out with the wrong crowd when I noticed I had started to think of British English as a funny accent. :o

as you might have seenmy spelling is ...well.....not good. I was a left handed child when i started school ...those long years agao and i was not allowed to write left handed which according to the school shrink they sent me to severl years latter was the cause of my poor writing so try and forgive an old fart....OK? I do not respond to forums that do not have good spelling checkers but this one is one I hope to stick around if you all can understand my writing.

As a note this forum does have a spell checker option, you just have to click on the ABC tab and make sure to download the script to your computer that runs it.

Thanks.
