Just recieved a early Birthday present from my wife (my birthday is Monday if you want to send gifts :D)

I have searched at a few stores when I'm there for about 2 years looking for the movie The Wild Geese with Richard Burton, about a group of mercenaries on a job in Africa with no luck, and today the UPS guy just brought me the DVD!

One of my favorite "war movies" of all time!

If you have not seen this classic from the 1970's then your missing out on a great film and one of Richard Burtons last movies.

Von:

Very good movie and done more realistically than you normally would see.

There is a sequel to it that I've never seen.

I think I have seen it, where I believe Scott Glenn is one of the main characters.

If it's what I remember, I wouldn't recommend that film.

Ed:

He can look mean enough witness his roles in "Silverado" and "Hunt for Red October".

Hi,
It's unsurprisingly called "Wild Geese 2", and if I remember correctly is a rubbish film about a group of mercenarys trying to break Rudolph Hess out of prison.

Jon:(:(

Jon:

Yeah sequels usually miss the mark. Makes you respect the Star Wars series and the Godfather trilogy all the more.

Yup, that about sums it from my sketchy memory.

I liked Scott Glenn in those other noted films of yours, other Ed, also thought his performance in "The Right Stuff" was good too. Just that WG2 was basically lame.

Never saw Wild Geese 2 (better skip it) but I did like Scot Glenn's performance in Urban Cowboy...what an a-hole he was!

You forgot Star Trek and Raiders.

Good points John, although I hear the most recent Raiders is a lousy flick. I'm gonna rent "Hellboy 2" this weekend!:D

As for Indiana Jones, I would rate them (in descending order of gooditude) 1 -> 3 -> 2 -> 4.

Heckboy 2 is a good flick, not as good as the first one, but not bad at all.

I like the Ice Age movies and Madagascar. I hope the second movie for Madagascar is as good as the first.

I saw the second Madagascar movie last week. I liked it better than the first one.

Picked up Kung Fu Panda last week for my family. It was a fun movie (enjoyed the duel for the last dumpling!), though it still just felt to me that it needed a little more something somewhere.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438488/ --- Terminator Salvation. With Arnold hitting 61 years old and doing public service.. I do not think he is likely to do any future movies, at least for now.

Here is to hoping that someone will design a good FPS for the new Terminator movie. The last one, Terminator : Rise of the Machines -- COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT -- had Atari done it right. I actually worked on a major unofficial project for it, with some added help from some other modders that contributed content and some help from the original designers, but we could only go so far within the engine limitations.

If someone could do a EA Battlefield or LucasArts Battlefront type design for a FPS Terminator design that would be absolutely wicked. (The same could have been done for Transformers - the movie was damn good.)

Chris:

My son convinced me to swap in some older video games for Call of Duty 3 for the Wii. I have to admit, it's an addictive game and he's gotten really good at it. He loves using the BREN and BAR as well as the German machine guns.:)
