Hopefully someone can give me some ideas even though this is not related to v. 19. I checked the forums at Strategy First and Sonalysts and they appear to be fairly inactive, sooo....

When I install the SCS version of Fleet Command (from the 4-disc pack of Naval Warfare Pack), I have no response from my subs...they are yellow in my map window and I can not even call them up for commands....I am running the game on a Windows Vista machine, but then installed the same game on my Windows XP laptop and have the same problem. I have the "on demand sub comms" button checked in the options screen....

Anyone have a fix for this??

Thanks in advance

I have the same issue....but only with v19.

The blank install works fine, and so does v18whatever.

Mine just does it with the basic install, no v. 19 installed......can not figure it out

Look in the Fleet Command file.

There should be file called Fleet Command.ini or it might appear without the 'ini' file extension. You can open it with word pad or note pad. Scroll down until you see:

[Cheats]
.QuickAircraftLaunch Yes
.SubComms Yes

And make sure 'SubComms' is set to 'Yes'

Changing the .ini seemed to work for the basic install of Fleet Command, but once I straightened that out, I installed v.19 NWP. And....my subs aren't available again. I checked the .ini file and subcoms always is YES as is the other Sub related text.

Any ideas?

Thanks

K....still having these problems on my desktop running vista...but just ran a fresh install of FC and v.19....on my XP laptop....I have control of my subs, in the 6th Battle mission...but now my subs have no sound and the screw is not turning on the Sturgeon class in the game...

Solutions to both problems would be appreciated

but now my subs have no sound

Hey Rogue SEAL

All you need to do is turn the sounds back on in the game options.:)

SAme issue here with unrresponsive subs.

Let me know when you figure it out.

screw is not turning on the Sturgeon class in the game

This is probably because there is no animation on the propeller or the name is wrong in the 3DObject Records (db Files), but I haven't check myself so I'm not sure.

That might explain the inanimate screw, but what about the missing sounds....I do have my sounds turned on...I hear everything in game, except the submarine sounds...all of them...

Thanks again

That's very odd I have just try the three sub in the 6th Battle mission and I'm getting the sounds.

Can I ask when you install NWP19.0 did you make sure that you fully delete the database, Doctrine and Scenario folders.

I have got Vista, but unfortunately I haven't got it install, the OS is too much of pain with older games and programs.:mad:

The only thing I can think of is uninstall NWP19.0 and Fleet Command.

Then download a program called ( CCleaner ) here is a link to it.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

Install the the CCleaner and load it.

Then click Registry.
Then click Scan for Issues.
Then click Fix selected Issues.
Then click Yes to backup the Registry.
Then click Fix All selected Issues and OK and close,

Just a little note you may need to do the above a few times.

Then click on Option.
Then click on Setting.
Then click on Secure file deletion and change it Gutmann (35 passes)

Now go to

Local Drive (C) \Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fleet command\

OR

Local Drive C:\Program Files\Sonalysts Combat Simulations\

and delete the fleet command or the Sonalysts Combat Simulations folder but don't empty the recycle bin.

Now go back to the CCleaner

Then click on the Cleaner.
Then click on the Analyze and went this is finish click on the Run Cleaner this may take some time.

NOTE:

Make sure that everything that is in the recycle bin can be delete, this is because will not get it after using the CCleaner.

Now your computer is totally clean of the old installation of Fleet Command and NWP 19.0.

Now re-install Fleet Command and check that everything is work probably with the original game.

Then delete the all the files in the database, Doctrine and Scenario folders, and use the CCleaner again, and then re-install NWP19.0.

Hopefully this should fix the problems with controlling the subs and the sound, well I hope so if not I dono what to tell you to do if it doesn't work. :)

I have just reinstall Vista to see if I have any of the above problems, and I haven't had any, so I'm not sure what is going wrong with Fleet Command and Vista software you must be going wrong some where.

Just a little note you are editing the Fleet Command.ini file in the Compatibility Files folder, and not the one in the main Fleet Command folder, Vista doesn't let the game read from that one. :)

Click on Start then Computer

Local Dick C:\Program Files\Sonalysts Combat Simulations\fleet command\

then click on Compatibility Files and then edit the Fleet Command.ini file in there, or you could just cut and paste the NWP one into the Compatibility Files folder, and you should have no problem with the subs.

CC,

Got the game working on my XP laptop, the one sub doesn't have a prop turning, but no biggie. Obviously the model. I noticed several Russian missiles didn't have any sounds. I also noticed a wierd little glitch. I played the 6th Battle scenario and attacked a Tarntul missile boat with F-18's. I hit it once with a Maverick then went after it with F-18C (SEAD) figuring I could hit it from a distance. As soon as the missile launched from the F-18, the plane, the missile and the target all disappeared from the screen. I had a second F-18 circling that area, and the target showed up again..but my other plane never did.

As for my Vista machine, right now, I have done everything you have said including checking the .ini (under compatibility) and it seems I can't even get the game to get past the start up movie, so I am still working on the problem.

Thanks for your help so far.

You might want to post this on the NWP 19.0 Bug reports, for Mike D to check out.

I have had that happen too, you can just press the window button or Ctrl-Alt-Delete on your keyboard, then went the computer goes back to the desktop, just click on the Fleet Command window on the Taskbar.

Or another way is load fleet command and just press enter a few times or click the mouse a few times, to go pasts the SUM.

Here is another way to get past the start up movie.

Right click on the Fleet Command Shortcut.

Left click on Properties.

Look at the Target box and then copy & paste this below, into the Target box.

"C:\Program Files\Sonalysts Combat Simulations\Fleet Command\Fleet Command.exe" -skipopening

Then left click Apply and then click OK.

This is it! The ultimate hint and the one which is needed when running FC in compatibility mode.

Never did I think that running in compatibility mode creates this special folder in which I have to edit that second ini-file.

Three cheers fot Fleet Command CC!

If the subs are yellow in your map window they are NOT controlled by you, they are unknown contacts, so the canīt receive any command.
Regards.
