Hey

I was wondering how ECM/ESM works onboard a ship because I made some test on different ship and scenario and I never decoy a missile by passive ways using chaff or ECM, all the missiles got their target(my ship) with not a miss.

I used exocet, harpoon, silkstorm, gabriel, etc vs T-22, la fayette, Meko class, maestrale, etc and more

So I want to know if can be posible to deceive a missile by passive ways or some tips to make it

Thank

The ECM is there and it does work but you don't see the flares and chaff launching from the ship. We removed that eye-candy from ships and aircraft to make the game run smoother. You have to realize that ECM works but not as well as active defense in real life. If a SSM missile is launched at you and you are in its sensor cone then you are in serious trouble, ECM or no ECM.

Also FC is incapable of distinguishing between a radar on a missile made in 1956 and one made in 2006. Same way for CM and ECM. A radar is a radar to the FC game engine. So while a missile made in 1956 may be easy to spoof and a missile made in 2006 may be very hard to spoof at present I can't model this diffrence in NWP due to the FC game engine limitations. I try to but its not exact.

Well I have my doubt ....the battle of Latakia, Falkland are good examples of passive countermeasure being very effective against missiles hopefully this could be more accurate on FC.

Well with your answer is very clear that FC has some limits on radar and ECM aspect so it good to know I was wondering a long time this...

Thank Mike

I am going to look into this further and see if I can tweak the ECM further.
