I read that you plan to make SAS interoperable with WCDB starting with release 2.1 (can't wait...). Will this mean that WCDB 2.1 will be able to use hypothetical/user created ships (i. e. the ones the player will generate via the Ship Builder in SAS)?
BTW, is a WCDB ship builder anywhere in the future plans?
Cheers

I have no present plans on including a "ship builder" in WCDB as I intend to increase the level of ship details in future updates which would make a ship builder somewhat problematic at best. Only historical based campaigns will be intercompatible with WCDB and NAW and SAS. Allowing for "designed" ships to be intercompatible would bring about a lot of complications. The primary reason for this is due partly with the different levels of ship details included with WCDB and NAW compared to the SAS engine. Even though WCDB and SAS combat are roughly similiar in detail there are some differences between how the ship details and damage modelling are recorded. NAW will be in a class of its own.
To make the engines intercompatible we will be designing a cross-engine readible file format that SAS-WW2 can adjust to and read into the engine. A similiar template was done with TAS/FSP.
Thanks.

I am aiming to have v2.0 done before the end of the year, I delayed it to keep our crew focused on beta testing SAS-WW2. v2.1+ will follow after SAS-WW2 v1.0+ updates are posted to cover for any player feedback and closer to the time frame of releasing NAW, this way Tony can help develop file templates that are compatible with the ship data for both NAW and WCDB. Most likely, the compatibility with WCDB will be posted with v2.2+ rather then v2.1 so I can make any required changes or improvements after v2.0 is posted which will be a large update.
Thanks.

Will we see a Spanish navy for then?? ;)
And I canīt wait for an us-american pre-ww1 navy for some nice scenarios with japanese, russian, german and spanish pacific-squadrons! :)
