Hello,I'm from Germany and I have a problem!
After installing the Fighting Steel Game (& Sc.Editor) from the original CD,I can create my own Scenarios with the Editor. After updating the Game to Version FSP10.43g I got an Error Message after I want to create (add a ship) to "Verband A"
Message: Run-Time Error '9':
Subscript out of Range
After this the Editor finished.
Have somebody an idea what's wrong with my game?
many thanks
Marco

Marco,
That error message almost always indicates that the Fighting Steel scenario editor is of an incorrect or mismatched version. In my experience the most likely cause of this issue is one of the three following items:
1) When you installed the FSP update it was installed to the wrong directory/folder, and you now have the original game and a partial version of the game (the FSP version) installed. Running the editor from one of them (or from a shortcut pointing to one of them) to edit a scenario from the other installation will always cause the error you received.
OR
2) For some reason your scenario editor was not updated to the required FSP version when you ran the FSP update program. This will also cause the subscript-out-of-range error.
OR
3) You are trying to edit a scenario using the FSP scenario editor that was created with the original Fighting Steel scenario editor -- original scenarios cannot be edited with the FSP editor because of changes in the scenario file structure during FSP development. We had updated all of the original scenarios to the new FSP format when we worked on FSP.
To correct the first two potential issues you would need to a) uninstall the game (completely uninstall FSP and the original game --also delete all folders for the game as well), b) search your computer to make sure you do not have another copy of the game or FSP installed in another location (if so delete all folders in the other installation as well), c) reinstall the original Fighting Steel game along with the scenario editor, then d) install FSP and make absolutely certain that you install the FSP update into the same exact folder that the original Fighting Steel game is installed in, and make sure that the scenario editor files are updated as well.
If you make certain that all of the above are not the issue, it is then possible that your Visual Basic runtime files are corrupted (or perhaps missing one or more key files) -- the Visual Basic 5.0 runtime files are required for the operation of the scenario editor. To fix this issue you will need to download and install the Visual Basic 5.0 runtime package from Microsoft. This package can be located at the following URL:

Marco,
Just a thought.... You may need to check the download you have for the update.
The English and German version links are close together. I have sometimes downloaded an incorrect file - I blame the mouse for "twitching":)

Colin
