Just thought you might be interested in this fact. One of the ladies in this race tomorrow has four master's degrees in Organizational development, Naval architecture, fishing and Aquaculture and Maritime Business. She is a qualified Naval architect. And she is a real looker.

Heh Heh!! That is the same question my son asked, when I told him! He and I could not understand that logic. She is a lovely lady with brains, why risk it racing a bunch of guys.

Sometimes ya gotta chase your dreams. I know of a guy who gave up a $500k a year job as a stockbroker at age 45 to teach high school.

No they probably stayed quite in hopes of being able to replace him in the job he left.:D
Would you make a scene in a situation like that?
My God, I am excited about starting my new job making just under 20$ an hour. Even with that, I am still making only 36,000 a year give or take a couple of hundred.
500,000$ I cannot even imagine what I would do with that kind of money.

Actually if you check the latest Indy500 roster.. heck, 3 nice looking ladies are in there. At least there is one sport where gender does not really matter. I could never understand why some sports are so segregated. If women want to take on the men.. all the power to them. The more competition the better - probably get a lot more people watching too.. and that can't be a bad thing. ;)

Things like Base ball, and Basket ball would not be an issue, but Foot ball might have some problems.:D
I guess women would not be able to be accused of doing steroids in Base Ball if you had a women who started hitting lots of home runs. If a women was doing steroids it would be pretty obviouse pretty quick.
Stuff like Soccer would be okay, but what about Hockey:confused:? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahah
Do you see the problems yet?

If women are willing to take the risk.. let them do it. The only reason I can see that men would have a problem with it is due to risking their machoistic egos. I am a full believer in "equal opportunity".. if women want it so bad then play with the big boys and be ready to stand the heat in the kitchen.
Thanks.

Its all relative. instead of driveing a Ford or Chevie you drive Lincon or Caddie, instead of living in a $125k home you live in a $500k home, instead of playing golf at the local public course you belong to a country club.

No, I would still drive a Dodge. I do not think I could ever sell my truck. I might add a Dodge Viper as my back up vehicle:D. As for the home, forget it. I would not live in anything that cost more than 200,000. I have watched TV and seen these Mansions. Absolutely not. I would be content with a Cave home that was two stories underground, with an inground pool on the first floor. 3 bedrooms maybe 4, but unlilkly. A standard living room, about 15X15 or maybe 20X20. Nothing too big, and the dining room the same.
I am too laid back, and could not stand having a gigantic mansion. If you can get lost in your own house, then there is something wrong. I saw a show on TV about some Millionaire who had his own Yaught. This thing was huge, about 5 stories high, over 50 bedrooms, and I do not even remember what it cost. What do people need things like that for? I would be content with a nice fishing boat. This Yaught had too have a full time engine crew to do maintance, and dining staff. I mean can people really not find better things to do with their money. If I had millions and millions of dollars, I can honestly say that I would spend a good portion of it to help people that do not have that kind of money. Maybe I am an odd ball, but I could not live with myself if I had all that money and was not doing anything to help other people:mad:. Do not get me wrong, I would give myself and my family a better than average life, with lots of toys, but I just think people get way carried away.
Just my personal thoughts.;)
Oh yea and I do not play golf. Maybe some Rodeo, you know jumping on a pissed off horse, or bull and seeing how long it takes before you eat the dirt. That is my idea of fun.

If I had that kind of money, I don't think I would buy that big a house either (maybe large enough to have enough room for my own library :) ). But what I would really like to do is travel, to see a bit of this country as well as the world. Specifically, I would go on a naval history world tour and visit every preserved ship and naval museum I could find...

The idea of visiting every Naval Museum and Preserved Ship does not sound bad, but be careful about wanting to see the rest of the world. I spent my entire childhood wanting to go anywhere as long as I could get away from home. I joined the military, and went and visited a few locations just to find out home was not that bad after all. Even when I got out, I got into truck driving and I have been to every state except Hawai, Alaska, and Maine. The U.S. is not really that good of a place. I have seen some things that make me vary content to just park my but right here at home.:D

You do have a point. My brother, served on attack subs, got to see a bit more of the world than I did serving on boomers. He's said he's seen some real armpits of places which make him glad he lives in the US. OTOH, I've seen many nice places in the US, as well as parts of Canada- Ontario (including Ottawa), Quebec (going to Montreal), Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (which I really liked and would like to go back again). I've been to Tennessee which I really like (I wouldn't mind living there) and my last trip to Texas was nice.

The only problem with county clubs is they are full of snobs. I'd rather hang out with my friends at a public course any day (Of course if I could golf at Augusta, now that would be worth it).

There is a lot of truth in that statement. The flip side is those that are cheap skates even when they have lots of money.. you do not see nearly as many of them squandering their money away and going broke.. the riches to rags syndrome.

I can understand that. I would only make sure that my house had a spare room to use as a library. My books are scattered all over my house. Also since my wife's family is all out of town, I would want a few spare bedrooms for when they visit on the holidays.
Charity is certainly a worthy cause, I can think of several good causes including a new rehabiliation hospital that was built in Texas with private funds for badly wounded service personnel.
I love horses, and appreciate the skill of a rodeo rider, but the sport is a little too risky for me. I'd rather own a race horse and let him race. None of this win one race and put the poor horse out to stud. That's why I am rooting for Big Brown to capture the Triple Crown and then come up to my neck of the woods in August and win the Travers. I want a real hero horse.

I saw the Slater in '93 when she was next to the Intrepid. They had just brought her back from greece, and still had her Hellenic Navy name (Aetos) and number on her (not to mention alot of rust).
