Hello guys and happy holidays.

I know it was announced that Mike would no longer be working on/with NWP and that 19.02 would be the last update he would be involved with. However it’s been a while since we got an update. I’m thinking that it’s just not going to happen. If that is the case it’s perfectly understandable, but if it is so, can we get confirmation, and if not a reasonable ETA on the release.

Best regards,

Rivie

+1 from another FC junior who is fascinated by the sim but worried about its future.

Hey all,

Haven't been here in a while, but I thought I'd check in and I'm very surprised 19.02 isn't out yet. If it's just a matter of making sure all scenarios have the right units, I'd be willing to do the Notepad/DB editor work to get that done.

I might hazard to suggest that those of us with 19.01, the DB editor and some technical experience create an interum version, say 19.01.5 or something. What I'd like to do first and foremost is make sure none of the scenarios crash. There are a bunch of scenarios (e.g. Liberate Liberia or Operation Morvarid-Iraq) that I literally can't play because they crash. This would be the easiest front to tackle, as it's basically just a scenario design issue. I could do this, but I'm not very good at editing doctrines and database editing carries some uncharted risks of corrupting the DB. I can do minor DB editing though and I'm sure others can do even more.

So how 'bout it? I've already started trying to troubleshoot some scenarios, but I don't really know an efficient way to do it, so it'll take some time. However, I think I can fix the scenarios that crash on me in a month or so, and if someone could fix a few of the minor DB bugs, I think we'd have a much more playable 19.01, which would suit me at this point.

More custom scenarios would help a lot though, as I find the future of FC's replayability is all about dynamic scenarios. I'm working on a few, but I have only so much free time an inspiration. I'll hopefully be posting some new scenarios soon. I have a Pakistani Army/Air Force going into Waziristan one, a first strike on North Korean artillery one, and an Isreali bombing of Iranian Nuclear Facilities from both sides, but none of these scenarios has good text or enough dynamic groups yet, so I don't feel like I should post them.

Let me know what you guys think of making a user created 19.01.5 or even just a patch for 19.01.

DB update issues is all about time to test the made DB updates. I'm currently waiting on some DB revisions to be sent to me that some of the NWP staff has made to test.

Until then, progress is at a standstill.
