If any of you want to watch a good British movie from 1952, about the cost in human lives of attempting to break the sound barrier, watch this movie. It stars Sir Ralph Richardson, Nigel Patrick, Ann Todd and Denholm Elliott. The aircraft are great, along with the flying scenes and the acting. The technical end is a little ludicrous as the internet movie database states, but that is normal, because of the secrecy surrounding this kind of research. The problems encountered in the movie are accurate: severe vibration and aileron reversal. Some of the aircraft are the Comet, Vampire, Swift. The movie won a host of film awards.
