Welcome.

I recently bought FS, installed it along with FSP, and just after about 5 minutes of normal play I get this:

My system is AMD Athlon 64 3000+ : 1,81 GHz 1,00 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 186.18, Direct X 9.0c, XP Proffessional Service Pack 3.

Hello,

I am not clear from the screenshot what exactly you are seeing: are you getting simultaneous multiple mouse cursors?, ghosting/afterimages of the cursor?, or are the cursor images staying on the screen (& if so for how long)? If you switch to the map does this same thing occur? What happens when you switch back from the map to the 3D view?

I can say that every proposal may be a good description of what's happening. It's not just the cursor , but ship tags also. In fact the hole simulation gets stuck, and after switching to the map I can't get back to 3D viev. Ctrl+Alt+Delete is then the only solution.

This always happen, for a first few minutes everything's ok, but later it always happens.

What are your system specs, operating system, DX driver installed, and video card/chip?

I understand now, basically the game locks-up.

Have you tried to run the game in compatibility mode? Right-click on the Fighting Steel executable (not a shortcut but the actual executable in the main game folder) and click the "Properties" item, then click on the "Compatibility" tab -- set the game to run in "Windows 98" mode, and check the following boxes:

1) Run in 256 colors
2) Run in 640 × 480 screen resolution

Then click the "Apply" button.

Please let me know if this makes any difference.

I have tried this, but seems no result.

Hi

Two other things to look into off the top of my head are:
1. Do you have any other software running at the same time e.g. anti-virus scans running in the background, Outlook downloading e-mails, downloading something from the web, I-Tunes, etc. These will often also result in the FS/FSP hanging or the programme still running but it disappears from the display. I have changed my anti-virus program and stopped other programmes from running at the same time.
2. Is your machine running hot? Make sure that you have enough cooling as quite a bit of crunching power is used during big battles and some makes of computer can start running hot if they don't have adequate cooling, which oftens causes a jumping screen effect as well. I solved this by getting a laptop cooler pad that I keep under my laptop. Just this extra space was enough in most cases although I often turn the fans on just when I am running FS.

Let me know if this helps

Richard

No I have no other programs running in the background, exept for the system. Neither my PC is getting hot. But the lock always happens, in every mission, and precisely about the same time of simulation (check clock on the picture).

Looking at the screenshot this looks like one of the two tutorial scenarios to me? This is also the scenario that comes with the demo version of FS. Are you sure that you are running FS and not FS demo? I know there were some issues with course changes in the demo version of the game.

Have you tried any other scenario and do you get the same result with any of the other scenarios as well?

Richard

I said that it happens in all scenarios, about the same time. It makes gameplay virtually impossible. Before I bought full version I'd tried a demo, and this had happened there as well.I thought this may be not a problem in full version, but it is.

I did some "archeology" on the forum, and discovered that this thread: http://forums.navalwarfare.net/showthread.php?t=446 (http://forums.navalwarfare.net/showthread.php?t=446)
probably describes the same problem I have. Is there any other solution than downgrading drivers, or changing video card?

In windowed mode the game doesn't even open- immediately I have Windows bug report window.

Yes, I have installed the latest drivers for my graphic card, but it seems no result.
