Hmm. From the comments I've read here the game seems pretty good, as an accurate simulation and as a fun game. Both of these areas are very important to me.

Will there be a demo?

At this time I do not have any definite plans of posting a demo. The manual, screenshots, and other information posted do give a very good idea of how WCNAW plays however. There is nothing complicated about the interface as it takes you step by step through each phase of combat, maneuvering, etc.

Thanks.

Wasn't there a demo for the previous naval warfare game? I remember downloading something, and playing around with it a bit. But then I got distracted by work related junk and never wound up buying it.

The Warship Combat series was originally two games- WC-WW1 and WC-WW2, and there was a demo for each version. The game has changed a lot since then.

Hi, I created a demo for the earlier WW1/WW2 and WCDB editions - not for WCNAW as of yet however. It takes a bit of time to work out a demo edition that can be continuously updated with each new engine upgrade so I cannot promise a WCNAW demo will be posted.

I wouldn't think a demo would need to be updated, since the idea is just to give people a rough idea of the full game.

From the WCNAW screen shots it looks like the gameplay should be similar to that of WCDB.

I believe in showing what the latest versions of an engine, not the v1.0, can do when it comes to playable demos. The difference between the WCDB and WCNAW is significant - especially in terms of combat mechanics resolution. The interface however was only changed by around 25% so if you can play WCDB then moving up to WCNAW is pretty simple. The addition of the TacMap, upcoming land, and larger battle features adds a considerable amount of new dimensions, situational awareness, and playable depth to the engine.

What about one that will only play a couple of scenarios each for WW1 and WW2 to give players a good idea? No manual ship selections or save function. Perhaps limit the navies available too?

This this was a v1.0 and thats it development .. it would be easy. Since WCNAW is continously evolving the playable demo option became a seriously time consuming challenge. I will see what is possible.. but no promises.
