I was recently going through my files and came across these screenshots I took back in 2005, when I first started playing the Warship Combat series. Back then it was two separate games- WC-WW1 and WC-WW2 (later that year the two would be combined into Warship Combat: Dreadnoughts and Battleships). I thought I would share these screenshots to show (especially newcomers to the series) how far the game has developed in the past four years.
WC-WW1 and WC-WW2 used a simple range band system and you had only two divisions- a battleline division and a screening division. Also, there was no ammunition types or rates of fire, and no ammo limits based on ship class- all ships were presumed to start running out of ammo on or shortly after turn 30. There was no superstructure damage- only hull and floatation damage; additionally if FOW was on (as it was in the scenario that the screenshots were taken of) you didn't get to see the enemy's hull and floatation damage- just a single box indicating whether the ship had taken light, medium or heavy damage). Additonally, all ships started out in visible range of each other- even if your ships had radar in WC-WW2, there was no blindfire ability like there would be in WC-NAW or WCDB.
Like the old cigarette commercial says, you've come a long way, baby....
