I just upgraded my WCDB to WCNAW and patched to 1.02.

1.The installation went smooth
2.I'm currently setting up a random battle between the Duke of York, Suffolk and the Scharnhorst. One thing I noticed, the cursor is very sluggish and click response is very slow. I checked my CPU utilization and it was pegged at 100%!!

There is definitely an issue. It appears anything I do in the game is very slow and boggy.

I have a DELL XPS2 laptop with 6800 Go Ultra video and 2GB ram.

Chris mentioned 1.03 will be addressing performance issues, so hopefully this problem will be addressed.

Hi, bssybeep, we are posting v1.03 today in about about an hour, around 5:00pm EST. Robert, WCNAW lead beta tester, tried out v1.03 earlier today on 2 PCs and the CPU overhead dropped considerably even when multi-tasking. On my PC it dropped from ~50% to ~17%.. big difference.

The overhead seems to vary per CPU/GPU combination. Side note, try shutting down any applications running in the background.. let me know if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give 1.03 a try once it becomes available. fyi, since this is my gaming system all I had open besides the game was Windows Explorer.

Thanks for providing 1.03 so fast and for the follow up phone call. Here are the results of my testing:

1.On my gaming laptop, Dell XPS2, Nvidea 6800 Go Ultra, XP, 2GB ram) with nothing running in the background my CPU is at 100% while running the game (1.03). I did locate a driver for my external monitor (HP w2408h) but that appeared to not make a difference. Thinking about it, if the CPU is pegged at 100% seems like it wouldn't be a video/monitor issue.
2.I tried the game on my pos work laptop ;-) IBM T60p, XP, 2GB ram and tons of background processes running and the game (1.03) works fine. No lag at all.

so, go figure. On my bogged down, low end work laptop the game runs fine. On my gaming laptop that runs Witcher and Fallout3 good, it lags like crazy.

bssybeep, have you tried the different screenmode.txt file settings?

1.I tried Full and Scaled with no change in the problem.
2.I've been playing the game on my other laptop which works fine.
3.Just finished a slugging match between the Prince of Wales, Renown and two Italian battleships. The tacmap really makes the difference in this game. Brings back memories of Action Stations but with better feedback and nice battle graphics.
4.One suggestion, after a battle is completed a summary screen displaying battle stats would be nice:
*length of battle
*accuracy (# of hits, misses, etc)
*time of day
*Results
*ships involved
*ability to save file
As it is, the game just dumped me. Kind of an anti-climax to my win ;-) unless I was clicking to fast and accidently skipped the screen?

Hi bssybeep,

Glad to hear you are playing WCNAW. At some point you and me will figure out why the other laptop will not work as well but I have a feeling its an older and less supported OEM GPU driver.

As to the requests.. WCNAW does produce an AAR and a final end of battle screen. Not with *all* of the information your asking about but quite a bit of it. You likely clicked right by the end of battle screen but you can pull up the AAR from your WCNAW directory under the AAR folder.

Let me know if that helps. Thanks.

One interesting point. I always found SAS to be boggy as heck on my system. So for a test I tried SAS on my work laptop and the performance is a lot better than on my gaming laptop.

So both WCNAW and SAS exhibit the same symptoms (slow redraws, laggy mouse, etc)on my gaming laptop with the external monitor.

Like you said it appears to be related to my older video driver and the external monitor.

Hi bssybeep.. not surprising to me. Thanks for the added info.
