Hi:
I saw this game today in a Game Stop store. I checked and its supposedly a follow on to Battlestations Midway which was pretty much an arcade game from what I heard. I know NWS doesn't comment on products its sells, so I was hoping that perhaps some forum members are familiar with game and can give some info on what it is like? Thanks.

We can discuss other games here.. so long as it stays professional. BM was a bit arcadish, as I would assume BP will be just in greater scope. Its fun but short lived for the single player and BM had almost noone on the servers playing it recently. It will be interesting to see if BP is a better sequel to its little brother.

Okay so I bought it and I am playing it right now. It is much funner than the Midway game.
The Subs appear to be able to stay under longer, but they are still on a timer.
Many more ships are available, and you can go to a skirmish mode. The funnest is the Island Capture in which you duke it out with the enemy for control of a series of islands. You buy units that you can afford, and capture islands to get more money.
The Campaign finishes where Midway left off. You do not have to worry about the Hennry Walker Character. You just follow the War from Battle to Battle starting at begining of Guadacanal.
That is as far as I have made it so far, but it is quite a bit of fun.

Hey djcyclone
Should I get it?
Has the game got a mission editor, and also can the game be modded do you know? :)

There is no mission editor, and I do not know about modded. I bought it for XBox 360, so I am pretty sure I cannot cheat on mine.
There is skirmish mode which is something that the other one never had. You pick a map and then you decide how much suplies you will have to start. When you start you can purchase aircraft and ships based on how much suplies you have.
There are a bunch of islands on each map, and you have to take them either by buying a Skytrain and sending paratroopers, or by sending an LST. You can also just park a destroyer off the coast and open up on the fortress of the island, until it surrenders to your side.
Some islands are just supply post, but others are Dock Yards and Runways, so you have to pick carefully which ones you take. Each Dock yard and Airport open up a different option for units that you can buy.
The Skirmish that I am talking about above, is called island capture, but there is a basic skirmish that you pick your ship and the enemy will pick a ship of equal or better caliber. Then you duke it out one on one.
There is a skirmish that has you escort a convoy.
The Game has the New York Class WW I Battle Ships, the Renown, King George V, Iowa, South Dakota, Washington.
They have the Clemson, Summner, and Faragat Destroyers. Gato and Norwal Subs. The standard patrol boat.
Carriers only include the Yorktown Class, and I did see one escort Carrier, but that is only in the Campaign. If the Map is large enough on the Skirmmish mode island capture, then you start the mission with a Yorktown Class Carrier, but you cannot buy any more once that one is gone.

Thanks for the info, shame the new game hasn't got a mission editor, but I guess they may do one at a later date. :)

Love this game. Not terribly realistic but SO much fun. The Carrier battles pack adds 4 different carrier engagement maps and a few more "super" ships and aircraft to the line up. Worth a look just for the graphics value but don't get me wrong, this isn't a "distant guns" or "jutland" style game with attention to historical accuracy. It really is an arcade but with a historical naval feel.
