I might be getting what I am looking for in a WW II simulator here pretty soon. When Battle Stations Midway came out I bought it right away, but I soon grew tired of it and sold it.
I rented it again not to long ago, and started looking online for any new cheats, since I have already beaten it in the past. I was vary suprised to see that a new game is on the horizon called Battle Stations Pacific, by the same makers.
This game will give you command of both the Japanese and the US navy, and even has a setup that will alow you to change the course of the war, and somthing is mentioned about what if battles. Sounds Fun.:D
The biggest problem I had with Midway was the Submarines can only stay under water for about 2 minutes, and they you are out of oxegen. This seemed to be the only shortcut that they took to make it an arcade game, but hopefully the new game will have dealt with that.

Hi djcyclone
I bought this game too, and finish it in a day or two, the game looked great and that was about it, I gave my copy to a friend that was going to buy it.

Yep I had hear about the new game, but if its like the first one I won't be buying.

Yep I agree, also I didn't like the idea of there being no singe player mission editor. :( This is something Battle Stations needed badly, so you could have made your own missions like in Fleet Command.

Another thing that bothered me about the Midway game was the Computer had unlimited planes.
I sat and counted one time, and I shot down over 500 planes before I finally quit. The same applies to the Ship Yard. When the Player has a Ship Yard, they get 2 patrol boats, and 2 Catlinas.
When the Computer has a Ship Yard, they have an unlimited supply of both. That is what I mean when I say stop giving the Computer so much advantage over the Player. It only makes people mad, and causes them to quit playing the game.

I just played the first Midway Battle, and I shot down 63 B5N Kate's, 118 D3A Val's, and 27 A6N Zero's.
That was from two Carriers alone. The Last Carrier was still launching aircaft right up until the point that it dissapeared under the water.
They clearly gave the Computer an advantage in firepower, as they do not have a limit on aircraft, but the player does. My Carrier only caries 60 aircraft. About 20 each of Wildcats, Avengers, and Dauntless.
Game designers do this because they think it makes the game more challenging, but in reality, it only makes the player mad, and then they lose the desire to play the game.

Just found out.
Battle Stations Pacific is due to come out on May 12th, and will be in stores by the 13th.
I will definetley rent it before I buy it, that way I can be certain that it is better than the first one.

I always wonder why there was so many A.I. planes. :(

I can't remember the A.I. Ship Yard having unlimited supply of both patrol boats & Catlinas.

Yep I agree with you there, it can make a game very boring if you don't win a few times.

DJ:
That's not a simulation, it's an arcade game.
