Why have there been no updates to the graphic modeling in the HPS games?

I personally love the historocity of HPS games, and really dislike the graphic implementation of the games.

If they were to even update the graphics to the level of SSI Rifles, or the old Talonsoft level of East Front, I would be satisfied.

I even prefer the graphics of Schwerpunkt Russo German War over HPS graphics.

Maybe it's just the way my eyes work or how I percieve color, I don't know, but I do know I would buy all of the HPS titles if they looked marginally better.

I suppose that I am not part of the HPS demographics. I suppose I should relegate myself to being "not a true grognard", accept that fact, get over it, and move on.

Obviously I need to get a life (not a wife, been there done that).

I usually play most of their games in 2D mode anyways so the graphics do not bother me at all. Players have done some mods for the unit graphics on various forums you might want to check out however.

Here is one site we sponsor , http://www.volcanomods.com/

I think its just a matter of taste and what you are used to. Being an old board wargamer from the late 60's, I prefer 2D graphics. As a matter of fact, I wish wargame producers would go back to the old NATO symbol standard and not worry about pretty pictures. But then, I'm an old "fart" and still prefer turn based games. :)

The newer, 3D graphics look too "cartoonish" for my taste and I turn off 3D graphics given the chance to do so. (Nor do I buy real time games for what its worth.)

But like I said above, there's nothing wrong with fancy graphics if that's your taste. The only time that I criticize fancy graphics is when game content or design suffers in order to make the game look "pretty". Thank goodness for screen shots in game advertising, that way each of us can see if the game is visually appealling.
