Okay it is not as bad as the title would make it seem, but I do need some help from you Computer Freaks.:D
I have the Game Starfleet Command II, and 3 for that matter. In Starfleet Command III, I can adjust things on the ships to make them more capable. I can play with the programing and give Federation Ships Cloaking Devices, Starbase Warp Cores, and weapons. I can even give Special Weapons to the Federation, like the Romulan Plasma Torpedo.
However, when it comes to Starfleet Command II, I cannot do anything. I have played with the programing, and it is impossible to cheat in anyway. So yesterday I did a Google search for Starfleet Command II editor to see if anything exsisted.
Sure enough someone has developed it, and it was free to download. However after I downloaded it, I opened it up, and I cannot get it to link with the Game.
It has all kinds of menues that you can select different ships, and adjust certain specs for them, but my list is always empty. It does not recognize that I have the game.
Advice anyone??????????????

My SWAG is that the download was incomplete. If was missing some data. I suggest you find another download site and try again.
You could also see what kinds of data are available in the other games, file types specifically and see if they are included in the your download. Just check file types, see if the same number of files was downloaded as compared to the number on the disk version. It might show something missiing.

Does it matter where you save the Download?
When I clicked save, it asked where I wanted to save it. I just clicked on documents, and let it go. Then once I had it, it was a zipped file, so I went into the files and unzipped it.
When I did that, it opened up a shortcut on my desktop. I went into the shortcut, and that is when I started playing with it, but as I said there where no ships to adjust.
It does not recognize that I have the game.

It shouldn't unless there was another file in that folder that caused a problem. You could just make another folder, and download again into that. But I don't think that will fix the problem. Is there a file in the download that explains how to configure or setup the new download. It might be a read.me file?

Well there appears to be a read me file, but it wants to open with Adobe Reader. When I click okay, the Adobe Reader says file cannot be opened due to error.

That either means the file is probably corrupt, so that means the whole download was probably corrupt. Suggest you find another download site.

Just checked that site out. I already have Starfleet Command III, and I know how to change anything I want in that. I can start with 2 million credits, adjust parts so that I can put a Starbase Warp Core in a Defiant Class ship, aswell as a cloaking device. I can put Starbase Disruptors, and Phasers on any ship.
I can even build a Galaxy Class Ship with all Borg armor and weapons:D. I have lots of fun with that.
I just cannot figure out how to modify Ships in Starfleet Command II.

So here is the deal. I deleted the last download, and found a new site to download again.
It did the same thing again, so I went into the Game Files and found a file called shiplist. I opened it up with Microsoft Excell, and looked over it. It appears to have everything that I need to modify the game.
I copied that file onto my desktop, then I opened up the editor and selected the open button. I then found the shiplist and opened it. The editor recognized the file, and provided everything I was looking for. I changed a few things on one of the Battleships, and then saved it.
I then went back into the game files, deleted the old ship list, and then copied and pasted the new one. I even looked at the new one in Microsoft Excell to confirm that my corrections had been made. I also reopened it in the editor to see if it would come back up. Everything checked out, so I clicked apply on the game properties menue, after I had pasted the new shiplist in the files.
I then opened the game and attempted to play. I loaded a skirmish mission, and played with the modified Battleship, but it was the same as the original one. Now I am just confused.
How can the game still use the old Battleship, if I deleted the old shiplist, and replaced it with the new one?

Caveat - it's been a while since I played or mucked about with the SFB II shiplist - so keep that in mind!
That being said...
I believe that you may find 2 shiplists. Check the folders, seems like I remember one being in a campaign folder or something like that (it's been a while!).
Shipedit will change your core ships, so if you try to go online to play (if they're still running that, they were a couple months ago) the game will not connect to the servers. It checks for modified shiplists (so people can't cheat).
I'd advise saving your original shiplist(s) somewhere before playing with the one you're using. You can make changes in note-pad or excel as long as it's saved in the same format. It's easy to screw something up though (lord knows I did more than once!).
Wish I could help more - I think I may have SFC II Orion pirates on my home system still. Provided I think of it when I get home (best of luck there ) I will look and see if I can provide some help!

Did you get the problem resolved? I figured someone on the forum I sent you to would be better qualified than me, but I don't know how busy it is or how often it's visited these days.
If you've still not figured out the issue I can try to remember (heh heh) to look into it a bit further.

Well I haven't got it figured out yet, but there was someone on the forum that posted a few replies. I will have to play with it this weekend. I found some models of the older ships (the ships with the satalite dish on the front), and I downloaded them. Now I have to figure out how to get the game to recognize them.
One of the guys on the other forum, told me that all I have to do is change the Geometry section, so I will give that a try, but I have to find out where all the other models are kept for the game, and then put this file in with them.

I haven't played with the game for a while (not positive it's still on my hard drive even). I used to swap around models and ships and what not though, if I can fire up the old unused brain cells that have that information in them I probably can help. I mostly worked with the Orion Pirates expansion, but things should work pretty much the same way. You can put 20 photon torpedoes on a ship, fun things like that and add models from Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5 and Starwars in if theyr'e still around to download. Kinda fun.

I thought about adding something from Starwars, like the Star Destroyer, and maybe the Death Star for a base.
That would be kind of fun to cross the two fleets. But Star Destroyers where unbelievably slow copared to Star Trek ships, so it would have to be a sitting duck on the game, for it to be accurate. Weapons would also have to be the weakest disruptor that the game has, with one or two missle bays, and possibly a torpedo launcher.
Plus a ton of fighters. Could be fun, but right now all I want are the original ships. I will play with it this weekend, and see what I can pull off.

The models are just that - models. You could put huge numbers of engines on a star destroyer and make it go really fast if you want. The max speed in the game is 30 or so anyway (30 what is the question).
I looked in my game folder and under assets is a shiplist. That's the one - if you change it the changes should show up in your game. If they're not then the shiplist changing program apparently isn't saving. Before I found the ship modifier utility I was going in using a text editor or maybe excel, I forget it's been a while. It worked though, I could put phaser 4's on ships if I wanted.
I had the original Klingon D7 once I found the models to download, and the original constitution class. At one point I even had the disruptor and phaser sounds from the original series, which was fun.
If you can find a copy of SFC Orion pirates around you may want to see if you can get it on the cheap. Some additional ships provided are a lot of fun - the ISC is added (Inter Stellar Concordium) and the Hydrans (I think) - both with new and interesting weapons and ships. Also they have X ships - advanced tech ships with new weapons and lots of power to use them. They're deadly, with a bit of care an X destroyer can take on a Dreadnought. I think the B-10 and B-11 are in there too - The Klingon versions of the Yamato class.
